Quick Roundup
Mike N has two good posts over at Mike's Eyes: Government Worship and a Review of Surviving Katrina (Previous Katrina-related posts: New Orleans Revisited & the latter portion of this entry.)
Diana reports on a terrible socialized medicine bill here in California. Many of the comments to her post are right on as well.

Mike N.
nevermind, I asked Onkar himself, lol.
During the Katrina hurricane, everybody was blaming the federal government for the bad response and not preventing the disaster. But out of all the people in the world, the last people we should be blaming is anybody in Washington.
What the hell does some guy in Washington know about anything that’s happening in New Orleans? This is the problem with expecting a big centralized government to solve all your problems.

By the way, these two short blog posts illustrate my point.
Like the posts say, nothing responds quicker than local forces. especially if those forces are property owners in charge of those levees. It’s just one of the many benefits of property.
Property owners on their property can respond faster to problems than the goverment.
