Religious "Truth"

I ran across this quote today which I thought worth passing along because it perfectly encapsulates the dogmatic nature of religion (and the concomitant requirement that believers disregard their own judgment in favor of some authority's). It's from Ignatius of Loyola (founder of the Jesuits) in his Spiritual Exercises:
To arrive at the truth in all things, we ought always to be ready to believe that what seems to us white is black, if the hierarchical Church so defines it.
